Creativity

Sometimes for no reason I begin to ponder
It happens spontaneously as ponder turns to wonder.
What is this thing called creativity?
Don’t know what it is, but creativity leads to infinity.

Creativity is ideas whirling in the mind
A kaleidoscope of possibilities, most beautiful in kind.
Trickles of effort, joining together becomes a surge
As out of nothingness tangible reality begins to emerge.

The sculptor chipping away at stone
Releases a statue never before shown.
The artist with exquisite strokes of brush
Paints a masterpiece causing us to gush.

A mesmerising piece the orchestra plays
From side to side the audience sways.
The dancers dance to a rhythmic beat
Not knowing how they move their feet.

Creativity rises through osmosis of components
Sometimes leading to breakthrough Eureka moments.
You find excitement in the land of Serendipity
A journey to simplicity on the far side of complexity.

You cannot start creativity at will
Once it starts you cannot keep it still.
A beautiful poem composed of random words
Comes together like a flock of birds.

As we marvel at the creativity
Which converts nothingness into reality.
Let us bow to the God Almighty,
Who is the Creator of the creativity.
Let us bow to the God Almighty,
Who is the Creator of the creativity.

Guru Gobind Singh's Perpetual Legacy of freedom

Guru Gobind Singh's Perpetual Legacy of freedom

Sikhism teaches the principle of co-existing peacefully
Respecting others’ right to live freely and differently
To protect every human right from any offence
To always use the shield as the first line of defence.

But when cruelty and oppression becomes unbearable,
When rights are crushed and living becomes intolerable
You protest peacefully and no one hears your single word
The shield of defence may become the offence of the sword.

So said Guru Gobind Singh to Aurungzeb’s oppression
The right of religious freedom shall overcome suppression
He urged Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs for once to unite
Stand together jointly and fight for every human right.

He transformed the Sikh to become the Khalsa soldier
Drinking Amrit, becoming pure and freedom upholder
The once frightened jackals became roaring lion kings
Everybody thanked God for the bravery of the Singhs.

Guru Gobind Singh led by wisdom, magnanimity and bravery
He said sacrificing life is better than a living a life of slavery
To win our freedom how many lives would suffice?
Countless Kaurs and Singhs made the supreme sacrifice of life.

Guru Gobind Singh made sure that oppression failed
Guru Gobind Singh made sure that freedom prevailed
Today as we live our lives of freedom let us all agree
That we will do our share and more to preserve what is free.
To earn it today do you know what would be the price?
Guru Gobind’s Kaurs and Singhs made the supreme sacrifice.

Pleas of Mother Earth

As the sun rises everyday,
I observe with dismay
The ever encroaching desert
Pushing back the forest
Where animals used to play.

Where is the gratitude for the bounties
I gave to you for free?
The forest to sustain you
I don’t see a single tree.

I can’t bear anymore, the incessant war.
There is pillage in the global village.
You are not heeding my warning
The poles are melting with global warming.
Deforestation is making me shudder
Shame on you for denuding me,
After all I am your mother.

And yet I glimpse through the pollution,
Sometimes a rare pristine solution
Wisely balancing need against the greed.
That’s when I start to dream
My planet is again turning green.

I have given you the ability,
Now show the responsibility.
Each one of you, do your bit, and show restrain
Then all of you, forever, I will sustain.

O people of the world, I am your Mother,
I beseech thee.
The hour of no return is near,
My last pleas, do you hear?

O people of the world, I am your Mother,
I beseech thee.
Please listen to my pleas,
My last, desperate, pleas.
